"A key and integral contributor to the success of this project was our Partner PLAUT IT Australia. In particular they were the only ones who could provide the SAP PS-CD skill set."Alex El Debel , Assistant Secretary, Border and Corporate SystemsThe Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s (DIAC) role is to provide the well managed entry and settlement of people into Australia. Since its establishment in 1945, DIAC has managed the arrival and settlement in Australia of nearly seven million migrants from 200 countries, including more than 700 000 refugees under the Humanitarian Program. Plaut delivered a revenue receipting solution enabled by the SAP Public Sector Collections and Disbursements capability, with the SAP Process Integration platform used to integrate with third party and legacy systems. The complexity of the solution really challenged the capabilities of SAP and integration with other third party systems. The new processes are changing aspects of work for thousands of staff in the department, all towards achieving nationally consistent business processes and providing better control of the department’s business transactions. PLAUT was selected as it had the most experienced and skilled team and a track record of delivering. This project was strategically important for the department, and they chose Plaut because they felt that, "They provided the SAP and integration experience and expertise as well as significant Public Sector business process knowledge". The new Revenue Receipting process significantly improves the department's control over public monies received and improves the efficiency of client services and financial management transaction processing by automating manual processes and streamlining existing business processes. It enables a single global repository of client financial transactions and integrates with ICSE, the Generic Visa Portal and Client Search Portal, providing operational and productivity savings for the department. Together, the department and Plaut have introduced new technology and business processes such as bar-coding deposit slips and integration of EFTPOS to achieve cash management efficiencies. The new centralised product, price and foreign currency maintenance system enables multiple currency receipting, improved revenue reporting and forecasting capabilities. These enable the department to reduce costs and significantly improve reconciliation processes. "PLAUT worked tirelessly to ensure the project was delivered on time and budget and were very flexible in the way they managed and provided resources to the team."
